Onohara Tea Wholesaler was founded in 1947 by Eitaro Onohara, and is now in the hands of the third generation, Eishin Onohara. He frequently visits the tea fields to check on the growth conditions and select the highest quality teas. The tea leaves we purchase are processed at our own factory, making the most of each tea’s unique flavor. At the counter of the store, female staff members greet customers in a friendly manner, singing tea-picking songs they learned as children.

Onohara Tea Wholesaler has been making tea for more than 600 years, and produces Ureshino’s unique kamagairi tamaryokucha and steamed tamaryokucha with tea leaves curled up in a ball. Kama-yaki Tamaryokucha used to be the representative of Ureshino tea, but in recent years, more and more tea producers are producing steamed Tamaryokucha, and Kama-yaki Tamaryokucha has become a rare product. Onohara Tea Wholesaler is working hand in hand with growers to promote the traditional kamagairi tamaryokucha with its distinctive sweetness once again. The same enthusiasm applies to steamed tamaryokucha.

Both of these teas have won awards at tea fairs. Kama-yaki Tamaryokucha has a light golden color when brewed, and is characterized by its fragrance, elegant flavor, and subtle sweetness. Steamed tamaryokucha has a bright young leaf color, a fresh aroma, and a crisp, full-bodied, sweet flavor. Onohara Tea Wholesaler is also committed to various efforts to pass on the tea culture to the next generation.
